This Position Paper of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics describes the need for policies and procedures to ensure that health care billing and insurance claims processes do not impede the ability of providers to deliver essential health care services on a confidential basis to adolescents and young adults covered as dependents on a family’s health insurance plan.
